The story of Elyse and Joe:

There were so many opportunities for us to meet: We grew up in neighrboring towns – Elyse in Oswego, IL and Joe in Aurora, IL, had mutual friends and were almost coworkers. But we weren’t supposed to meet in an easy way. Nope. Our story is much more interesting than that. We met on the Internet.

For whatever reason, Joe and Elyse each signed up for a quiz/dating web site. Neither really planning to meet anyone, but just to cure some boredom.

One day, Joe found a really beautiful girl on the site (yes … it was Elyse) and sent her a message. Elyse checked out his profile and they had some things in common. They began talking … and talking … and talking … it was three months later when Elyse suggested they meet. Joe laughed and said no. But a few days later he changed his mind. The day of the first meeting, Joe went to pick Elyse up in the “blue whale” … his Volkswagen camper van. Elyse started to get cold feet, but her very wise mother said, “What’s the worst that could happen? You fall in love?” And what do you know, Joe and Elyse quickly fell in love.

Over six years we’ve crossed the ocean, lived in three different states, become parents to two lovely little creatures, bought our first home together and celebrated our marriage with family and friends. It’s been quite a journey, but we know that as long as we have each other, we can conquer any challenge, and celebrate all the wonderful things life has to offer.
